A domain is the part of a link that people recognize, such as go.example.com. You can use a hostname you manage when the domain tools are available in your Project.
Add a hostname you own
Section titled “Add a hostname you own”- Open Domains in the same Project as your Smart Links.
- Select Add hostname.
- Choose Customer and enter the hostname you want to use.
- Copy the DNS records TapBaton shows into the service where you manage that domain.
- Return to TapBaton and select Verify now. You can also come back later if the records have not updated yet.
- When the hostname is active, set it as the default if you want TapBaton to show it in the Project’s public Smart Link addresses.
DNS changes can take time to appear. If verification fails, compare each record with the one TapBaton displays, including the hostname and value.
Managed hostnames and domain search
Section titled “Managed hostnames and domain search”Some workspaces can add a managed hostname without changing their own DNS. Domain search and purchase may depend on services connected to the workspace; the Buy a domain action may be unavailable in a preview setup.
If there is no active hostname, TapBaton shows a development address for the Smart Link. That address is useful for testing, but it is not a branded domain.
Before a campaign uses the new address
Section titled “Before a campaign uses the new address”Open the public link on a real phone. Check that the destination loads and that the visit appears in Logs → Clicks. A hostname being active is one part of that check; the full visitor journey still matters.
