A conversion is an outcome you choose to count, such as a lead or sale. TapBaton can show which Smart Link and visit led to it when the outcome is sent back with that visit’s click identifier.
Choose the outcomes you need
Section titled “Choose the outcomes you need”Open Conversions and add a conversion type for each distinct outcome. Use names your team already uses. For example, keep “Lead” and “Approved sale” separate if one is an early step and the other is a confirmed result. Each message you send is one event of one type, with its own value, so send the confirmed result as its own outcome when it happens.
You can count an outcome without assigning it a money value. Add a value and currency when they matter to your reports.
Connect the service that knows the outcome
Section titled “Connect the service that knows the outcome”The How to send section gives you the address and examples to pass to your website, offer provider, or tracking partner. That service must send:
- the click ID from the visit;
- the conversion type you created in TapBaton;
- optionally, a value, currency, and the sender’s transaction ID.
The click ID is what joins the outcome to its visit. Ask the person who manages the sending service to keep that ID available until the outcome happens. If the sender repeats the same type of event for a click with the same transaction ID, TapBaton treats it as the same event; an event of another type is a separate conversion.
Check one result
Section titled “Check one result”Send a test outcome, then open Logs → Conversions. Find the record and check its type, Smart Link, and click. If it is missing, check Logs → Postbacks to see whether TapBaton received the message. If the conversion is there but an ad platform does not show it, check Logs → Deliveries. Follow the checks in order.
A conversion recorded in TapBaton and a delivery accepted by an ad platform are separate facts.
